Taponecco

This intact male statue stele was found in 1975 in the locality of “Cavallino” in Taponecco (Licciana, MS) during road expansion works. It belongs to Group B and can therefore be attributed to the Eneolithic period (between 3400/3300 and 2300/2000 BC). It has a trapezoidal body with a truncated-conical neck and a semicircular head. The concave face is rather long and narrow, in the shape of a “U.” The raised nose is wide and long, and the clavicular band is depicted in relief. The upper limbs are bent and detached at the elbows, and the hands are depicted with parallel lines. A dagger, depicted beneath the hands in a slightly upward angle, features a wide triangular blade with a central rib and a handle with a semicircular pommel.

It is preserved at the Museum of Pontremoli.
