Minucciano II

This male stele statue, made of sandstone, is broken into two parts below the arms. It was found along with two others in 1965 near the Sanctuary of Madonna del Soccorso in Minucciano (LU). The upper part was discovered during road widening works, while the lower part was found among the stones thrown in the landfill. It belongs to Group B and can therefore be dated to the Eneolithic period (between 3400/3300 and 2300/2000 BC). It has a trapezoidal body with a rectangular neck and a semi-ellipsoidal head. The face, which is poorly legible, is U-shaped and surrounded by a wide raised band that also represents the nose. The clavicular band is depicted in relief, and the upper limbs are bent at the elbows. A dagger with an elliptical blade and a semicircular pommel is depicted horizontally below the arms. On the chest, the profile of an axe with a long handle can also be seen.

It is preserved at the Museum of Pontremoli, where a cast is also located. There is also a cast in the area in front of the Sanctuary of Madonna del Soccorso in Minucciano.
