Malgrate III

The sandstone statue stele is female and lacks a head. It was found in a house in Malgrate (Villafranca in Lunigiana, MS) where it had been used as a shelf. Later, until 1968, it was kept in the Villafranca library. It belongs to Group B and is dated to the Eneolithic period (between 3400/3300 and 2300/2000 BC). Although its reuse has caused damage, the slightly raised clavicular band, upper limbs, hands depicted with parallel lines, and partly broken but prominent breasts are clearly visible.

It is preserved at the Museum of Pontremoli, where a cast is also available.
