Bigliolo
It is a complete male stele statue. It was found in 1975 in the Belvedere “ai falò” area (Aulla, MS) while cultivating a field. It belongs to group C and is dated to the 6th century BC, based on the presence of an inscription. It has a sub-rectangular body that slightly narrows at the hips, and a sub-circular head. The face is depicted in a rather realistic manner with raised eyes and eyebrows, and a small incised line represents the mouth. The ears are depicted concavely, and the clavicular band is slightly raised and curved in the central part. The upper limbs are modeled quite realistically, bent at the elbows almost at a right angle, and the hands, which are quite realistic, have the thumb distinct from the other fingers. An axe overlaps with the handle in the right hand, featuring a quadrangular blade and an attachment point. A raised belt is depicted below the arms, encircling the body of the stele, and a triangular loincloth is shown beneath the belt. On the chest, in the upper left, there is an inscription in Etruscan characters that should be read as “vemetuvis”.
