The new setup
The Museum of Stele Statues, located in the Piagnaro Castle, has a fascinating history that began in 1975. It is thanks to the passionate and visionary commitment of Professor Augusto Cesare Ambrosi that the museum came to life. After conducting research in the 1950s and 1960s and creating an initial archaeological collection in the Municipality of Casola in Lunigiana, Professor Ambrosi strongly desired to bring the Stele statues together in a prestigious location in Pontremoli.
In June 2015, the new setup of the Museum was inaugurated, nearly doubling its exhibition space. This expansion further enhanced the display of the Stele Statues within the evocative spaces of the Piagnaro Castle. The setup was carefully designed with elegance and simplicity, enriched by modern multimedia content, to enhance the charm and evocative power of the Stele Statues.
In addition to the Stele Statues, the Museum offers an immersive experience that allows visitors to gain a better understanding of the history and context of these ancient sculptures. The integrated multimedia content provides insights and interactive information about the origins, symbolic significance, and importance of the Stele Statues in the culture of that era.
