Lunigiana

Lunigiana is a historic region located between Tuscany, Emilia, and Liguria, and it possesses a very distinct personality. The passage of the Via Francigena, utilizing its morphology as a natural corridor between these areas, has greatly influenced its history and the organization of its territory.

Furthermore, the absence of urban centers has favored the development of feudal lordships and, consequently, the construction of a large number of castles and fortified villages, many of which have remained to this day.
